Good quality because it made it through 15+ years of abuse and still works, though I think we replaced a few lost checkers, and ones the dog chewed up. One of my favorites, my Mom bought this game years ago and it's fun for all ages.
It teaches strategy and planning and sharpens thinking skills.Pretty good value as well. I owned this game when I was five years old and purchased it this Christmas for my six year old son.Like most things, from games to Snickers bars, they have reduced the size and cut some corners, but all in all, this game is as much fun as I remember. My six year old loves it, as do my my older children.
Yes, I superised her. My daughter perfected her fine motor skills trying to drop the pieces into the slots. My 7 year old can play for hours and she is surprisingly good.I recommend this toy highly. We love this game in our house, we can play for hours. This game is perfect for adults, for kids, even for babies.
While he hasn't gotten all the strategy down (plan ahead, think about what your competitior will do next) but it was very fun to play for him, and he seemed to be understanding the need to look at the entire board before you play.I played like I would with anyone (although stopped him some times to think about his moves) but in about 25 games he really won on his own 5 games. He is also just learning checkers and chess. Kept us occuppied for hours, and now is playing with his parents.I played this all the time with my sisters and always enjoyed it. I bought this for my 5 year old nephew. I loved this toy as a child and thought this would be something fun for my nephew to play with.
So what if it is "low tech" - most kids still appreciate a game that lets them test their wits against an opponent one on one. It is one of those simple game concepts that are classic and ingenious. I remember playing this game when I was a child and I loved the game. Now my children (7 and 5) are also playing this and they can't get enough of it.
